Tiny Greenie

We're just back from 2 nights in Wainui Bay (Golden Bay).  Golden Bay Hideaway have just opened the doors to their latest baby - The Tiny Greenie. It's a tiny house that was built on the property and moved to this spectacular spot as an accommodation option for that well-needed escape from the norm.

We've stayed in the House Truck a few times and absolutely loved it, so we didn't hesitate going back to photograph the newest addition. It may be our new favorite, although we still will have a soft spot for the old house truck. This is a completely different experience though. While the house truck fills the 'charm' bucket, the Tiny Greenie fills the 'inspiration' bucket - with plenty to flow over.

The Tiny Greenie proves that small doesn't need to be cheap and comfortable doesn't need to be big.

Here are a few views of the interior...

The kitchen is well laid out with plenty of storage and counter space...

and not a bad view...

For lunch, we rolled the table onto the deck and extended the awning to appreciate the amazing bird life.

The inside bathroom felt plenty big enough and the composting toilet was very well done.

Amy and I stayed in the loft above the kitchen...

While our son, Felix enjoyed climbing up the steep stairs to his perch in the loft above the bathroom...

Both lofts could be closed off with blinds for privacy.

Oh, and the outside bath. Always a lure for Amy.

and still there in the morning...

I wasn't sure whether to view the brilliantly glorious night sky from the bathtub or the skylight above the beds. I chose the bush. With very little light pollution, it's absolutely stunning.

The Milky Way

The interior lighting was also spectacular and made the inside feel warm and inviting. Good use of Switch Lighting's sunlight dimming.

Walking distance from the start (or end) of the Abel Tasman walking track, it's not a bad spot to spend a few relaxing nights.

With exceptional insulation and heating (and outside bath), this is a perfect Winter escape. We've already booked our return.
